The Exhibition!

Finally the Exhibition Day has come! Here are some photos of the student's independent inquiries and their reflections.

Overall my how I was feeling on stage even though I was backstage I was feeling really tense and I felt like I wouldn’t be able to speak properly. But when I was off stage presenting my board, I felt very positive and confident and it was a really different but new experience for me.

on - sam
The highlight for me was when a lot of people came to see my board because it was really shocking and surprising. All the people who came to see my board gave me all good responses  and they said that they loved the way I was explaining everything.
The challenges that I encountered were voice projection and stuttering. At first when I was presenting to my parents I was so anxious because I was a bit shy that’s why my voice wasn’t loud enough. The second challenge was when another group of people came I was stuttering a lot because I was very surprised.

Students from 6.2 thinking things!

Read these thoughts! By Rayyaan, Jayden, Hafsah, Zahra, Lindani, Arsh, Jabali, Lelotlhe and Sahaar

By Rayyaan Moosa:
So far the exhibition has been fun and interesting. My issue is gaming. I chose gaming because I want to learn more about gaming. I'm looking forward to presenting and talking about gaming. I hope that everything will go well. The one challenge I face is that the exhibition is going to be in Ramadan so I am going to be so thirsty. Anyways wish me good luck!

By Jayden Scott:
I'm looking forward to letting people do my survey and compare the different answers I get. I also want to do my interview with a doctor and see the answers I get. I want to finish doing research so I can print it and put it on the bristle board.

By Hafsah Chhadat:

So far my Exhibition is going really well. My global topic for the Exhibition is climate change and my local topic is on what global warming has done on Lake Kariba. For my Exhibition I have done mostly all my research and also all my research on my local issue. I am looking forward to it and I am quite nervous about presenting all the research I did on the 22nd of April because I am a really shy person and I am also nervous that I will mess up when presenting to people but hopefully I don’t mess up. Wish me good luck!

By Zahra Ali:

I think that so far the exhibition is going well and I feel like the PYPX is really fun and equally exhausting . But my favourite part is the Action part because that where the real change happens. My action is to raise money for the local animal rescue shelter , then there’s my blog, and also my informative distil artworks as my visuals . I’m really enjoying year 6, the Exhibition , and being back at school after a whole year of HBL and COVID !

By Lindani Nkambule:

So the Exhibition has been really fun and also really hard at the same time and my issue is social media and I chose social media  because I really wanted to learn more about how people use social media and how they use it . I did a form to the school and then I found out that many people use social media in this school. The 22 April we are going to do our pyp exhibition and we are going to present to our parents and the head of the school. so this weekend that we are going to we need to finish our exhibition and then we need to start  making our display.

By Arsh Kumar:

My issue is sports and why I chose sports is because there are so many who think sports is good but there  are other people who don’t even try to play a single type of sports so I am trying to inspire them. So far the exhibition is going well and there is less time left and it is fun.

By Jabali M. Musembi:

For  me the exhibition has been going well. My issue is music and I picked it because I  wanted to know the history of music and why it’s so important in other cultures.

By Lelotlhe Phologolo:

The Exhibition has started already and I think we are off to a good start. We’ve all gotten in our groups, some of us have Teachers/Mentors to help us with our work. And the weeks are closing by which is scarier and scarier but just a little exciting. But I think i'm a doing good on my topic i’ve found more and more information and key things that have happened back then and I hope to find more information.

By Sahaar Hamir:

The Exhibition is really stressful but also really exciting. We have to work really hard, especially do lots of research. Teachers and parents put a lot of pressure on us in order for us to work harder. We do this Exhibition in order for us to do more research and to also learn how to NOT plagiarize. The Exhibition is on the 22nd of april which is very soon so that is why it is a very stressful month.

More thoughts and reflections from 6.2 students

Read what Wataida, Zaidaan, Troy, Ayesha and Samhita have to say!

By Wataida T.W. Madzima:
Hi. I am really looking forward to presenting pypx because I get to show how hard I worked and that it has paid off. The thrill of presenting and showing how much I love this. I will be happy and relieved. Happy that I presented and it will be my best presentation in primary. I will be sad because I do not want primary to end, although there are some perks to being in secondary. I will miss being the oldest in primary but sort of the youngest. I will be relieved that there is not the pressure on exhibition even though it is fun. I can't even believe i won't be walking down the yellow corridor to get to my class.

By Zaidaan Chhadat:

So far the exhibition has been really fun knowing the fact that nothing will stress me out because I just need to do a little more. I honestly was a bit relieved when I found out we don't have so much information like the previous exhibitions due to Covid-19. My favorite part of this is just knowing that everything is probably going to go really well. I am hoping I do really good on the exhibition day and remember it throughout the entire journey until school ends. The exhibition is gonna be one of the biggest things I have ever done for school. I have already learnt a lot about my issue which is health and I am hoping to know a lot more within the next week. I am already leaning towards the end of my research and everything else from here is gonna be fun. I also do think I might be lucky because I know not everyone is relieved like me and I do think the next few weeks will be stressful for a lot of people. In conclusion I think everyone can agree the exhibition is gonna be a blast.

By Troy Kgosi:

So far the PYPX has been really hard for me because I didn’t know were to start. Now I am relieved because I think I am done with my research. Now I am starting my action. The action I am gonna be doing still includes research because I will be doing how to stay healthy. I chose that because most people are not eating properly. What I am trying to is that most people aren't healthy so that's why I chose to give advice to people so that they can can live longer. I hope I make my mum and dad proud by doing good during the PYPX. The thing that I enjoyed the most was that time when we were sharing ideas with our groups and the part that I want to get over with is to finish everything.

By Ayesha Ahmed:

I am really enjoying the exhibition so far. I like to hear people's opinions on my topic. I hope that the rest of my exhibition will be like this. I think I am enjoying researching about Covid 19 and other human viruses. I think PYP Exhibition time is a time to look forward to. I hope more people will fill in my survey. I really think everything will go smoothly. I can’t wait for the big Exhibition day to come!

By Samhita Bajpai:

The PYP Exhibition is on the 22nd of April. It’s only 2 weeks away from now and one of those weeks is a holiday! I think that I’m almost done with my research. During the 1 week holiday I’m going to be working on my presentation and on how it looks. Things like pictures, bristle board, colour, etc. So now I have 2 things to look forward to in April. First is the Exhibition and second is my birthday! (which, by the way, is on the 15th of April!)

Students from 6.2 reflecting or looking ahead

Read on! Thoughts from Anwar, Anwesha, Tachi, Giovanni and Mohammed :)

By Anwar Faizal Mussa:
Now we’ve been doing a lot of pypx work, getting ready for the exhibition and also preparing for it. At first the work we all have been doing on the pypx was that it started pretty easy work but then later on it began to be very hard and difficult. I'm surprised none of us are giving up by now. But yeah its just that the pypx is going so well and can't wait till exhibition day.

By Anwesha Kumar:
The thing I like best about the exhibition is when we do the group work I think that is really helpful and fun because then you can share all the information with the people in my group. The second thing I like best is art. I am doing a collage with cloth for the thing I drew related to my global issue. I think that is really fun and I can't wait for my next art lesson so I can finally finish it off.

By Tachi Jowi:
My issue is gaming. I chose gaming because I wanted to learn more about it. What I can say about gaming is that it is big and has many topics. Gaming is a sports, culture, business,e.t.c. Right now I am getting my stuff ready to print and so that I can start preparing for the final piece. I hope for people to learn a lot about gaming and I also hope that this influences many other people to learn a lot about gaming.

By Giovanni P. Amarante:

I’ve already started my action, I’m just waiting for my interview with the East Park Mall manager to see how much they pollute, and inform people. The issue I chose is pollution, I wanted to learn more about our polluting ways as humans. I’ve learnt that most global warming is caused by pollution, and that it takes about 500,000 years for plastics to break down, and over that process microplastics form by the breaking down of plastic. The gases that cause global warming is air pollution. These gases are Methane, carbon dioxide etc.

By Mohammed Chhadat:

Hello everyone. For my PYPX topic, I am doing recycling. I chose recycling because I feel that not a lot of people are aware of recycling. I know that more and more people need to be educated and recycle because if we don’t recycle, then we harm the environment because of pollution, greenhouse gas emissions etc. I am doing a google form for data collection and I am doing interviews as my action.

Collecting data

The inquiry process requires students to collect data for their global issue research. Many students chose to conduct interviews and surveys. Due to COVID 19 restrictions, many students were unable to conduct face to face surveys so they chose to use Google Forms as a tool to collect data. Let's find out what they were asking...

Aarav: My questionnaire was very valuable and gave me lots of information about WIFI use and connection. 31 people responded and I'm excited to share the results in my exhibition.

Saja: I haven't received many responses yet, but I am hopeful more people will respond. From the few that have replied, I found out that many people are using their devices and social media apps most of the time. I wonder what the impact of this is?

Aaminah: For my data collection, I interviewed Ms Ruth from the secondary library because she is a fashion designer and has her own clothing company called 'Mizuwa Designs.' I asked questions in the local language Nyanja and learnt that Ms Ruth made her first fashion design when she was 11 years old, she made a bag out of fur.
